Universal Studios Florida
The original park within Universal Orlando Resort is Universal Studios, the ever-growing home of epic movie-themed attractions and entertainment in the heart of Orlando. The park features many unique rides and experiences including long standing favourites like E.T. Adventure as well as the latest in multi-dimensional rollercoasters such as Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™ and ultra-immersive rides like Transformers: The Ride-3D.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit™ and Revenge of the Mummy offer state-of-the-art thrills with loops, drops and reverse motion effects, while the younger members of your group will be captivated by the family-friendly fun found on Despicable Me Minion Mayhem™ and The Simpsons Ride™.
Universal Islands of Adventure
Equal in thrills is Universal Islands of Adventure, the second major park within the resort and adjacent to Universal Studios. Whether you’re a ‘Potterhead’ or not, make time to ride the fantastic Hogwarts™ Express, which is one of the best ways to move between the two parks. Hop on at Hogsmeade Station and end up at a replica King’s Cross Station in the London area of Universal Studios on this immersive, family-friendly rail journey.
As well as world-class entertainment, shows and dining, Islands of Adventure also features a host of magnificent rides including the white-knuckle Jurassic World VelociCoaster, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man® and of course Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ set within Hogwarts™ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry itself!
Universal CityWalk
This impressive dining, shopping and entertainment venue serves as a central hub between the main Universal Orlando parks, the hotels within the resort, and the parking area. With free entry and a largely pedestrianised setting, it’s the perfect, family-friendly place to wind down after a day of riding rollercoasters. Alternatively, CityWalk serves as a lively evening hotspot where things heat up after a lazy poolside day on Universal hotel Orlando twin-centre holidays.
There is something for everyone of all ages here; let the kids fulfil their sugary desires at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, play an 18-hole round at Hollywood Drive-In Golf or take to the stage at CityWalk’s Rising Star karaoke bar and channel your inner rock star until the early hours!
Volcano Bay
This is Universal’s fabulous water park and a welcome sight on a hot Florida day when the thought of queuing for a rollercoaster feels too much! The park’s centrepiece is the huge volcano with its maze of thrilling water slides inside and outside, like the four-person canoes of the Krakatau Aqua Coaster and the plunging tubes of the Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides.
For a slightly more leisurely experience, plop into the rubber rings of the Kopiko Wai Winding River and float through the tropical landscapes at the foot of the volcano and within the starry caverns beneath the lava rocks. With pools and lagoons to suit all ages, Volcano Bay offers a wonderful, refreshing day out on multi-centre holidays in Universal Orlando Resort!
Universal Legacy Store
Many attractions may be gone but their memory lives on at the Universal Legacy Store. With a museum-like feel, this fantastic shop is set in Universal CityWalk and showcases a plethora of retro wares and vintage set pieces for a trip down memory lane. See retired Team Member costumes and props used by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the filming of the Terminator 2: 3D ride, with music and video clips from former rides playing in the background.
Much of the goods on offer are still found in other Universal stores throughout the parks, but here you’ll also find dedicated merchandise for the Jaws, E.T. and Back to the Future attractions, as well as fun facts about opening dates, behind-the-scenes concept art and photos!
Hogsmeadeâ„¢ Shops & Diagon Alley
At Universal’s Islands of Adventure, you’ll find the quaint Hogsmeade™ Shops – one of the first attractions within the Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ and a great place to pick up some Potter-themed goods. For all your stationery needs head to The Owl Post and get your letters and postcards stamped with a unique Hogsmeade™ postmark, while Dervish & Banges is where you can find quidditch supplies and Hogwarts Spirit Jerseys®.
Over in Universal Studios sits the renowned Diagon Alley and its fantastically accurate shops. Visit the famous Ollivanders “where the wand chooses the wizard” to collect your wand for interactive fun around the park, complete the look with a shimmering robe from Madam Malkin’s Robes for all Occasions, and finish by satisfying your sweet cravings at Sugarplum’s Sweetshop!
Kwik-E-Mart
No Universal hotel Orlando multi-centre holidays are complete without a visit to Springfield for a pitstop at the wonderful Kwik-E-Mart store, which is located between the Simpsons Ride and the Studio Tour. Packed with classic Simpsons-themed merchandise and souvenirs like giant ‘Lard Lad’ donuts, themed magnets, skateboards, plushies, hats and keyrings, it’s a one-stop shop for all things Simpsons-related.
And on a hot day, make sure to take a moment to sit on the bench outside with Milhouse and drink your Duff Beer energy drink or Duff a L’Orange, then simply watch the world go by!
Orlando International Premium Outlets
If you fancy taking a trip outside of Universal Orlando Resort for some serious retail therapy on your multi-centre holidays in Orlando, head for the Orlando International Premium Outlets, which is located less than 10 minutes’ drive away just across the I-4. Offering unbelievable discounts of up to 80% off on iconic American fashion brands, this huge outlet mall is the largest of its kind in Florida and features more than 160 stores and heaps of eateries, it’s a popular place to spend an afternoon away from the parks.
Shops for great deals on excellent brands such as Armani, Boss, Coach, Calvin Klein, Columbia, DKNY, J. Crew, Gap and Lacoste, to name a few!
Wekiwa Springs State Park
About half an hour drive north from Universal Orlando Resort takes you to the blissful waters of Wekiwa Springs State Park. Its crystal-clear springs provide a welcome haven away from the hubbub of the parks and the heat of the day as a place to slow down, take a breath and rejuvenate on multi-centre holidays in Orlando.
The springs provide the perfect setting for swimming, canoeing and kayaking, and on dry land you can enjoy miles of hiking, jogging, and cycling trails and truly get back to nature. Pick up some essentials for a whimsical picnic and spend a few hours here before heading back to your hotel or plan an entire day off from riding rollercoasters and enjoy the serenity that Wekiwa Springs has to offer.
Lake Eola Park
Less than 20 minutes’ drive from Universal Orlando Resort is the stunning Lake Eola Park in Downtown Orlando. A city focal point for over 150 years, this gorgeous patch of green space provides some delightful respite from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks and resorts.
At its centre is the glistening lake, where dozens of white and black swans glide its surface and where you can even join them in your own swan-shaped paddle boat, available to rent lakeside. Also, the wonderful Walt Disney Amphitheater is located on the park’s northwest side and presents a regular schedule of free concerts and shows that are worth sticking around a bit longer for.
Wild Florida Airboats & Gator Park
Who said rollercoasters offered all the fun on Universal hotel Orlando multi-centre holidays? For an adrenaline-charged ride outside the parks, visit the Wild Florida Airboats & Gator Park and take flight on an airboat, whizzing across its swamp waters, marshes and glittering rivers.
On your airboat ride you may come across some of Florida’s most renowned and respected residents – alligators – as well as plenty of other native fauna. Later, on dry land visit the Gator Park and discover more than 200 native and exotic animals - including two-toed sloths and Florida panthers. Or perhaps take the drive-through safari tour if you came by car. Little ones will also have fun in the park’s very own petting zoo, with plenty of adorable animals to get up close to!
Discovery Cove
Discovery Cove is an award-winning park just a couple of minutes’ drive from Universal Orlando Resort. This all-inclusive day resort is in a beautiful tropical environment, a world away from the pulsating energy of the nearby theme parks, allowing visitors to get up close to an array of wonderful aquatic life in once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Swim with dolphins, snorkel and paddle with thousands of colourful fish, feed exotic birds right from your hands or simply spend the day reading a book on a sun lounger. Enjoy its glittering pools, lagoons and lazy river alongside extraordinary animal encounters in a tropical paradise setting. And to top it off, day packages include unlimited food and drink, wetsuits and snorkel gear, as well as sun cream and towels!

If you’ve come on Universal hotel Orlando multi-centre holidays to eat well, then you won’t go wrong with a dinner or two out at The Palm. Considered by many as one of Universal Orlando Resort’s best restaurants, The Palm is located within the Hard Rock Hotel and serves a substantial, high-quality menu of classic all-American steakhouse fare, delicious seafood and traditional Italian cuisine in a welcoming and casual setting.
Start with a crabmeat cocktail or crispy calamari appetiser and move onto a hearty veal parmigiana, Chilean sea bass or prime rib-eye steak, together with little lobster mac ‘n’ cheese on the side – hungry yet?
Three Broomsticks
If you’re intent on the full Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ experience and in the mood for some good old-fashioned British grub with a distinctly wizarding twist, then the Three Broomsticks™ restaurant at Universal’s Islands of Adventure is a must-visit dining venue for the family.
Located in lively Hogsmeade™, this super casual and inviting quick-service restaurant offers a wide range of meals for both adults and kids all day. Pop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner and fill up on a hearty English breakfast, fish and chips or shepherd’s pie, then wash it down with a tasty Butterbeer™, a pumpkin fizz, a glass of Gillywater or a magically named draught beer like Dragon Scale and Hog’s Head!
Mama Della’s Ristorante
For high-end multi-centre holiday vibes, take a water taxi to the 5-star Loews Portofino Bay Resort and book your evening table at Mama Della’s Ristorante, for truly fabulous Italian cuisine in a family-friendly environment. Despite the upscale menu, the atmosphere is homely and offers an authentic taste of regional dishes from Tuscany, Naples and Piemonte.
Delectable house specialities include lasagna, pollo alla carbonara and gnocchi, while the melt-in-the-mouth desserts range from a traditional tiramisu, chocolate-dipped cannoli and classic gelato – for the kids of course! The restaurant’s exterior features looming rock formations, tumbling waterfalls and carved-out ancient figures, while the cave-like interior has the feel of an echoey grotto.
This full-service eatery features an intriguing fusion of Mediterranean, Asian and American fare, with menu options like fresh Greek salad, sweet and sour pad Thai, 12oz pork chops, and grilled octopus starters. An extensive breakfast buffet allows you to begin the day strong, while lunch and dinner offerings include delectable dishes of passionfruit BBQ chicken sandwiches, toasty flatbreads and coconut jerk shrimp pasta, then finish with a sweet Caribbean rum cake for dessert.
