Orlando & Miami Holiday FAQs
Orlando & Miami Holiday FAQs
Orlando & Miami Holiday FAQs
For more comfortable temperatures and less rainfall, skip the summer months in favour of the shoulder seasons of spring and late autumn, when you’ll also find less crowds and lower prices. Book your Orlando and Miami twin-centre holiday for late April, when the Spring Break crowds will have left and temperatures hover around 29°C in Orlando and 26°C in Miami. Or visit in May when temperatures can hit highs of 31°C in Orlando and 28°C in Miami.
Late November or early December is another great time to visit, at the end of the hurricane season; temperatures average at 26°C in both Miami and Orlando in November, dropping to 24°C in December.
Orlando and Miami both observe Eastern Standard Time, making them generally 5 hours behind the UK. But if you’re travelling in March or November, look out for when their time zone changes to or from Eastern Daylight Time, as US clocks go forward or backward an hour on different Sundays than in the UK.
Fly directly from London Gatwick (LGW), London Heathrow (LHR), or Manchester Airport (MAN) directly into Orlando International Airport (MCO), with a flight time of roughly 9 hours 30 minutes. Or, if you want to start your twin-centre trip in Miami, you can fly directly to Miami International Airport (MIA) from Heathrow and Gatwick.
If you need flight advice for your multi-centre holiday to Orlando and Miami, just ask our team of US experts.
Planning logistics for your Orlando and Miami twin-centre holiday? Orlando and Miami are approximately 235 miles apart. You can travel between the destinations via car (3 hours 30 minutes), Greyhound (4 hours 30 minutes), or non-stop flight (1 hour 10 minutes).
The earlier the better! We are proud to offer guaranteed prices up to 36 months ahead of your twin-centre itinerary. You can secure your perfect package with an initial low deposit today and pay the remainder of your holiday in monthly instalments.
On multi-centre holidays to Orlando and Miami, one of our favourite things to do is check out O-Town’s amazing theme parks. First, head to Walt Disney World, where a handful of amazing parks await. True Disney fans will love Magic Kingdom, with its classic attractions, enchanting fireworks, musical parades, and more. Meanwhile, lovers of wildlife and adventure should head to the Animal Kingdom for thrilling rides and up-close encounters.
Have a little more time to explore Disney? Watch movies come to life at Hollywood Studios, dive into the Blizzard Beach water wonderland or Typhoon Lagoon waterpark, or head to Epcot, where science reigns supreme.
Universal Studios is also not to be missed, where you can step into the magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ and experience The Simpsons Ride™. At Universal’s Islands of Adventure, the fun continues; channel your inner superhero as you save the city on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man® or come face-to-face with King Kong on Skull Island: Reign of Kong. There’s also a water park at Volcano Bay, with thrilling water slides and serene waterfalls.
Let us know what you love, and we’ll help you create a bespoke theme park itinerary for endless entertainment. Want to visit just Orlando? You can view all our Orlando twin-centre holidays here.
We recommend you do book your Disney tickets in advance, not only to save money, but also so you can unlock exclusive benefits! For example, if you buy a 14-Day Magic Ticket, you can visit multiple theme parks on the same day with Park Hopper, tee up at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, and get unlimited downloads of your family photos with Memory Maker.
Miami’s known as Florida’s best beach holiday, and for good reason! Whatever your style of beach day, you’ll find the perfect spot to kick-back and relax or dive in and enjoy.
We recommend heading to the famous South Beach (known locally as SoBe), where you can spend your time people-watching in Lummus Park as the kids run around the playgrounds or explore the Art Deco neighbourhood the area is known for.
The historic and beautiful Virginia Key Beach Park is great for families, as is North Beach, where you’ll find a playground and walking trails beside the stunning white sands. And the more active will love Crandon Park Beach on Key Biscayne, where you can try your hand at kiteboarding lessons, rent a kayak, or tee up on the golf course.
With so many beaches to discover, planning a multi-centre holiday in Miami alone is well worth it. You can view all of our Miami twin-centre holidays here.
You’ll never go hungry on park days, with a huge range of restaurants to choose from. Enjoy breakfast with your favourite Disney characters at Topolino’s Terrace or savour an out-of-this-world dining experience at Oga’s Cantina, located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is a famous Star Wars-themed watering hole with entertainment courtesy of droid DJ R-3X, a former Starspeeder 3000 pilot.
Also at Disney, step into the Beast’s castle for a fairy tale meal at Magic Kingdom’s Be Our Guest, where you can try the famous “grey stuff” for dessert.
Continue the themed dining at Universal Studios’ Krusty the Clown burger joint, which brings the Springfield eatery to life; we recommend the legendary Krusty Burger! Or enjoy a taste of home at the Leaky Cauldron™ — a Harry Potter-inspired pub setting serving British pub classics, like bangers and mash and fish and chips.
Also at Universal Studios, you can’t miss Mythos Restaurant at the Islands of Adventure. Voted #1 theme park restaurant in the world for multiple years, you’ll enjoy Mediterranean and Asian specialities aplenty.
Miami is a foodie hub, with flavours and menus inspired by its multi-cultural residents and rich history. Choose from delectable restaurants, food trucks, pop-ups and more.
But if there’s only one new thing you try during your Orlando and Miami multi-centre holidays, make sure it’s a classic Miami Cuban sandwich. It’s a staple on many local menus, with the exact recipe changing slightly between restaurants, but essentially, it’s ham, roasted pork, swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on Cuban bread. Yum!
Thanks to its incredible waterfront location, Miami is also known for its delicious seafood. If you’re visiting between mid-October and May 1st, be sure to try stone crab, which is in season and not to be missed. For the city’s best stone crab, we recommend Joe’s Stone Crab — a Miami institution that first opened in 1913; Joe’s serves its iconic stone crab claws over ice.
Both Orlando and Miami have an abundance of shopping options, from malls and designer enclaves to indie boutiques and flea markets. In fact, we recommend leaving some space in your suitcase to bring home some incredible new favourite pieces!
Our top Orlando shopping recommendations include the Mall at Millenia, just 10 minutes from Universal Orlando — a world-class shopping destination with over 150 stores and eateries — or Disney Springs, which is perfect for souvenirs; shop big brands like Lego or find the ideal gift in the world’s largest Disney store.
Miami shopping hotspots include Bal Harbour Shops for open-air designer shopping or South Beach’s famous Lincoln Road, where you can enjoy people-watching in your shopping breaks from the comfort of an al fresco café.
