Los Angeles Highlights
Step into the surreal world of LA, the USA’s second-most populated city after New York, known for its dazzling creativity, its Mediterranean-like climate and of course its A-list inhabitants, this is the city that goes big in every way.
Beaches Galore
You can’t spend time in LA and not hit up one of its world-famous beaches. Not only are the sands pristine and the waters sublime, but they are also the coolest places to see and be seen. Get your pump on at Muscle Beach, shred some waves at Zuma Beach or just lie back and take in those cool West Coast vibes under the glorious Californian sunshine.
World-class Retail
If shopping is your bag, then Los Angeles will be your mecca. World-renowned streets like Melrose Avenue and Rodeo Drive are lined with luxury stores and exclusive designer labels, while the outlet malls offer the biggest brands at discounted prices. Downtown LA boasts an incredible arts scene with local boutiques and vintage shops, and the fabulous Farmers Markets offer a glimpse into everyday Californian life.
Iconic Attractions
Los Angeles is like a giant playground for both adults and children. Make time to visit California’s Disneyland and Universal Studios offerings to quench your theme park desires and try to catch a glimpse of the illustrious Hollywood Sign when out and about Downtown. With an abundance of hiking, cycling and walking trails in parks edging the city, it’s easy to escape the hubbub and get back to the nature that makes this diverse state so special.
Exquisite Dining
Dining in Los Angeles could be a holiday in itself, and you could easily spend your entire time restaurant hopping and sampling the city’s best foods. This is where culinary masterpieces are made and often echoed around the country and the world. From the humble taco food trucks to the Michelin-starred refinement of its top eateries in Downtown LA, you will eat very well here.
Hawaii Highlights
A trip to Hawaii is a feast for all the senses. Dine on its exquisite, Asian-inspired foods, dance its ancient hula routines, and take in its otherworldly landscapes, which will transport you to heaven on earth.
Dramatic Scenery
Hawaii’s incredible and diverse landscape is instantly recognisable, from its rocky promontories and lush mountain peaks to its golden swathes of sand and its rugged volcanic craters. It’s no wonder that these islands of striking natural beauty are the backdrop for many Hollywood films and TV series. You can rent a car and drive some of the most scenic coastal routes in the world or book a boat or helicopter tour and see the full scope of the islands’ splendour from a distance.
Fabulous Beaches
The beaches in Hawaii are the true definition of paradise and if you close your eyes and picture the perfect beach, you’ll end up here. Miles upon miles of golden sands are edged by turquoise-blue waters and flanked by swaying palm trees, while its jet-black volcanic beaches are equally as captivating and provide the perfect backdrop for a Pacific Island holiday. From the bustling tourist vibes of Oahu’s Waikiki Beach to the tranquil lagoons and unspoiled coves of the smaller islands, there’s a beach to suit everyone in Hawaii.
World-class Shopping
Much like the famed outlet shopping in Orlando, Hawaii has its own fair share of excellent malls and retailers where you can pick up designer clothing for a fraction of the original price – you may need to bring an empty suitcase for all those bargains. And if luxury shopping is more your thing, then Ala Moana Center in Waikiki will be your mecca!
Rich Culture
Steeped in history and deeply spiritual beliefs, Hawaii observes many traditional customs through music, dance, arts, and cultural practices, and is proud to share them with its visitors. There is a profound connection with the land, the ocean and the natural world that shapes these magnificent islands, running through everything from the food, the landmarks and everyday life. Dive in and absorb the magical culture of Hawaii, whether it’s a visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center, witnessing a fiery hula performance at a beachside lÅ«’au, or taking a trip to one of its many sacred ancient sites.

Los Angeles & Hawaii Holidays FAQs
Los Angeles & Hawaii Holidays FAQs
Los Angeles & Hawaii Holidays FAQs
LA is a notorious tourist hotspot, but there are certain times of the year when you can experience the sights without contending against masses of crowds. With this in mind, the best time to visit Los Angeles is during the spring (April to June) and fall (September to November) when the weather is warm and there’s minimal chances of a downpour, plus tourist crowds are more manageable.
Coincidentally, it’s the exact same situation in Hawaii. The best time to visit is also during the spring and fall months. You’ll be guaranteed some stunning, sunshine-filled days - plus you’ll be beyond the peak season tourist influx!
Yes - Los Angeles is definitely a family-friendly destination! There’s so much to see and do in the city itself - from touring through the neighbourhoods that many celebrities call home, to enjoying an adrenaline fuelled day at Universal Studios Hollywood, or coming face-to-face with the animal kingdom at the Los Angeles Zoo. Beyond the city itself, there are picture-perfect beaches to explore along the Pacific Coast, where kids can dip in and out of the shimmering waters, only coming back onto dry land to refuel with an ice cream!
The time difference between Los Angeles (in the Pacific Time Zone), and Hawaii (in the Hawaii-Aleutian Time Zone) is typically 2 hours, with Hawaii being 2 hours behind Los Angeles. However, it's important to note that Hawaii does not follow Daylight Saving Time (DST), while some areas of Los Angeles do.
As a result, when DST is in effect in Los Angeles, the time difference may change to 3 hours - this is the case from November-March. We’d certainly advise checking the current time difference when planning your upcoming travel - our friendly team will be able to provide reassurance if you need it.
Our prices are guaranteed up to 36 months before you’re due to fly, so you can enjoy peace of mind and secure the getaway you’ve been dreaming of. We also offer a low deposit option, whereby you simply cover the rest of the holiday cost over the course of a monthly payment scheme.
When choosing a UK departure airport, if you’re looking for direct-only options then Manchester, London Heathrow, and London Gatwick are the best choices. Other major UK airports such as Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds and Liverpool all offer connecting journeys.
Los Angeles International (LAX) is the main airport for International departures for your Los Angeles twin centre holiday, and you can fly direct to Honolulu, Kailua-Kona, and Kahului from here. Destinations such as Kauai, Hilo and Lanai all require at least one stop via a connecting flight. The direct flight duration tends to be around 6 hours, making it a fairly manageable journey.
While it’s a go-to choice for couples and honeymooners, Hawaii is also very much a family-friendly destination. The islands all boast beautiful beaches with calm, warm waters, making them ideal for family swimming and watersports. Adrenaline-hungry families can experience luscious rainforests, go hiking around volcanoes, or even take a zipline journey across the remarkably green landscape for a birds eye view! There’s also an opportunity for people of all ages to immerse themselves into the vibrant culture that defines these idyllic islands - kids will love participating in traditional luaus and hula performances.
You’re guaranteed to find a family-friendly hotel too, and many resorts in Hawaii provide helpful amenities such as kids' clubs and mini discos.
Hawaii has an eclectic culture to explore, so be sure to peel yourself away from the sandy shoreline for a day or so and pack in as many of these awe-inspiring historical sights as you can.
Bishop Museum, (Honolulu, Oahu), is dedicated to preserving and showcasing Hawaiian and Pacific cultures, and it boasts an extensive collection of artefacts, including ancient Hawaiian featherwork, royal regalia, and traditional tools. It's a great place to learn about the history, art, and traditions that have shaped modern-day Hawaii!
As the former royal residence of the Hawaiian monarchy, Iolani Palace (Honolulu, Oahu) offers a glimpse into the regal culture that once ruled over the country’s 137 islands. Get the full experience by joining one of the guided tours that run throughout the day, where you’ll delve into thrilling stories of the lives of Hawaiian monarchs, all against a backdrop of the nation's struggle for sovereignty.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (Hawaii Island) is where rugged geological wonders carve out the skyline. Here, you can explore ancient petroglyphs and walk through awe-inspiring lava tube caves - a must-visit if you’re a history buff.
Waimea Canyon and Koke'e State Park (Kauai) house incredible expanses of breathtaking natural beauty, but they are also home to the remains of ancient Hawaiian settlements, allowing you to explore the history of Kauai's indigenous people.
A foodie’s delight! Hawaii is home to some delectable culinary treats and part of your Hawaii twin-centre itinerary ought to be sampling as many of them as you can! Make a note of some of these traditional dishes:
Poke is a raw fish salad often topped with soy sauce and sesame oil, creating an aromatic starter or main dish. There’s an extensive range of flavour combinations that can be created with poke as the base - and it’s a must-try for sushi enthusiasts.
Kalua pig is a slow-cooked, smoky shredded pork dish, traditionally cooked in an underground oven called an imu. This locks in all of the flavour of the meat, and it’s a street-food favourite on many of the islands.
Hawaii has a reputation for incredible seafood, and many eateries serve the catch of the day, guaranteeing fresh, crisp tastes. Lomi lomi salmon showcases the best of this, and it’s a refreshing, simple salad made with tomatoes, and onions.
If you’ve got room for pudding, (of course you have), then haupia ought to be your go-to choice. It is a simple yet deliciously fragrant dessert, made from a few key ingredients - primarily coconut milk, sugar, and cornstarch.
If you’re planning multi-centre holidays to Los Angeles and Hawaii over the summer months, you’ll enjoy glorious temperatures in both destinations on your twin-centre itinerary. Simple staples will be a must, and t-shirts and shorts are an easy go-to. You might want an extra, light layer for evenings in Los Angeles, as it often feels noticeably cooler once the sun has set.
In Hawaii, swimwear will be your everyday attire, so be sure to pack plenty of options! Sarongs, flip flops, and vest tops will be handy as you nip in and out of beach bars. In the evenings, the temperature will stay relatively high and it’ll be more humid than Los Angeles, so opt for breezy, breathable layers - you can’t go wrong with linen!
