The time difference between Los Angeles and the Caribbean can vary significantly - and it depends on the specific Caribbean destination you choose. The Caribbean spans multiple time zones, including Eastern Standard Time (EST) and Atlantic Standard Time (AST). Los Angeles is in the Pacific Time Zone (PT). As a result, the time difference can range from 2 to 5 hours behind Los Angeles.

You can fly direct to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from Manchester, London Gatwick, and London Heathrow. Other major UK airports such as Newcastle, Glasgow, and Edinburgh offer connecting journeys, typically stopping at one of London’s airports or Amsterdam.

The hottest months in Los Angeles are July and August, with temperatures soaring to a sweltering 32​​°C. Though, as we’ve outlined, these months fall during peak tourism months.

Over in the Caribbean, the hottest months are from June to August, with temperatures between 30°C-35°C - it’s worth noting that these months are within the wet season, so downpours are more likely.

Located on the island of Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, Grace Bay is known for its pristine, powdery-white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and a stunning coral reef just offshore. This idyllic 12-mile stretch has plenty of secluded spaces for sunbathing, but there’s also lots of watersports to try if you’d like to take a break from lounging. There are many beachfront hotels along the shore, so you can watch the sunrise over this stunning, serene landscape.

Seven Mile Beach is the most famous beach on Grand Cayman, but despite its name, the sandy shoreline is actually just 5.5 miles long. Its soft, white sand and inviting clear waters make for the perfect snapshot, and you’ll find lots of quaint beachfront bars where you can grab a refreshing smoothie to cool off from the rays.  

Eagle Beach is one of the most beautiful and tranquil beaches in Aruba. Calm, shallow, waters lap gently against the creamy sand, and the iconic divi-divi trees serve up natural shaded spots. This stunning beach is less crowded than many other areas of the Caribbean coastline, and it’s a popular nesting ground for sea turtles. 

Traditional Caribbean dishes vary by island, so you can sample a diverse range of mouthwatering plates. One of the most common components of traditional Caribbean cuisine is seafood, and the catch of the day is a guaranteed treat. Some other popular dishes to try include jerk chicken, conch fritters, and roti.

You’ll need comfortable, casual clothing for your daytime adventures in Los Angeles, given that the forecast will be fairly mild. You’ll need swimwear for any beach days that you’ve got planned, plus sunglasses and a hat will help to keep sunstroke at bay. In the evenings, if you’re stepping out onto Sunset Boulevard you might want to dress up, but a light jacket will definitely come in handy as the temperature will drop by a few degrees.
