Los Angeles & The Bahamas Multi-Centre Holidays FAQs
Los Angeles & The Bahamas Multi-Centre Holidays FAQs
Los Angeles & The Bahamas Multi-Centre Holidays FAQs
Weather can make or break a holiday so, all things considered, spring is one of the best times to visit LA. With the temperatures on the mild side, it makes for an ideal time to explore the city and take in the sights. Similarly, autumn is a great time to travel, too. It’s still pretty warm and there are fewer tourists than during the summer months. If you enjoy a hotter and sunnier holiday, then summer might be the right time for you. It’s important to bear in mind though, that LA can get quite crowded during the summer months, plus smog and traffic can be an issue.
For off-season travel, winters in Los Angeles aren’t what you might expect. It’s still sunny and actually quite mild, and with fewer visitors, there’ll be easier access to all the attractions you want to see. This would tie in rather nicely with a visit to the Bahamas, as the most popular time to visit the islands is during the winter, when the weather is warm and dry. Spring is another excellent time to fly, with plenty of water activities and optimal conditions for exploring the area and soaking up the culture. Summer and autumn aren’t ideal as it’s hurricane season so the weather can be truly unpredictable.
The best time to visit can vary depending on the time of year due to Daylight Saving Time, which is observed in Los Angeles but not in the Bahamas. When DST is in effect in LA, it’s 3 hours behind the Bahamas. When Daylight Saving Time is not in effect (typically from the first Sunday in November to the second Sunday in March), Los Angeles is 2 hours behind the Bahamas.
Bear in mind that the specific start and end dates for Daylight Saving Time can vary from year to year, so it's a good idea to check the current time difference when making your plans or scheduling any activities in your multi-centre itinerary.
It’s best to choose airports that provide convenient access to both of these destinations to minimise any layovers or additional travel. LAX is the main airport serving Los Angeles and is very well-connected to lots of domestic and International destinations.
The Bahamas is an archipelago with several International airports, so your choice will depend on which specific island or islands you wish to visit. Some of your options include Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau - the biggest airport in the Bahamas located on New Providence Island - and Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport, ideal if you’re planning on visiting Grand Bahama Island.
We offer guaranteed prices up to 36 months ahead of your twin-centre holiday. You can secure your package of choice with an initial low deposit today and then pay the remainder in monthly instalments. For the best availability and pricing, we advise booking as far in advance as possible, especially during peak travel seasons.
Sightseeing absolutely needs to be a top priority on your Los Angeles multi-centre itinerary and being one of the most famous and iconic cities in the world, it has a whole lot to offer. From Universal Studios Hollywood to the Griffith Observatory, there are loads of extraordinary tourist attractions and activities.
Go behind the scenes of your favourite TV shows and movies and arrange tours at studios like Warner Bros., Paramount, and Sony Pictures. Discover a variety of exotic animals and learn about conservation efforts at the Los Angeles Zoo, or visit the Natural History Museum and discover a fascinating collection of exhibits, most excitingly, dinosaur fossils.
Some of the most famous and stunning beaches include Cable Beach, Paradise Island, and Pink Sands Beach on Harbor Island. You can stroll along the shore and feel the warm, white (or pink) sand between your toes. The Bahamas also has some of the best diving spots in the world so be sure to add them to your Bahamas multi-centre itinerary. Take in the vivid colours of the coral reefs, explore underwater caves, and marvel at the abundance of vibrant marine life.
The Exuma Cays and Andros Island are some of the more popular diving destinations and you simply must behold the world-famous swimming pigs, on Big Major Cay in the Exuma Cays. Swimming with these adorable and friendly pigs in the crystal-clear waters will be an unforgettable experience.
The Abacos offer excellent sailing and boating excursions with sights like picturesque harbours, and charming coastal towns. While the more active holidaymakers can opt for watersports such as kayaking, paddleboarding, jet-skiing, and parasailing. Another must-see is Dean's Blue Hole on Long Island, which is one of the deepest underwater sinkholes in the world. Many places in the Bahamas also offer the opportunity to swim with dolphins, which would be the icing on top of an already jam-packed holiday cake.
You’ll need to consider exactly what you’re planning to do in both locations. You’ll most likely be hitting the beach, so be sure to pack a few swimsuits that are suitable for both tanning and any water activities. Pack light, breathable clothing like shorts, kaftans and cotton t-shirts for the warm tropical climate of the Bahamas. Bring flip-flops, water shoes, and a beach bag as well. Some restaurants and resorts in the Bahamas may have a dress code for dinner, so we advise packing a few casual, resort-style outfits for evenings.
LA is known for its laid-back style, so pack comfortable clothing like jeans, shorts, T-shirts, and tank tops. Evenings in LA can be cooler, so it’s good to layer up with a light jacket or jumper. If you’re planning on sightseeing, you’ll definitely be getting the steps in, so pack comfortable walking shoes or trainers. If you’re planning to explore the outdoors or visit one of the famous, celebrity-packed hiking spots, bring athletic clothing and comfortable sports shoes.
LA boasts a vibrant nightlife with a handful of trendy clubs and bars, so if you plan on hitting one of the many hot spots, pack some dressier clothes.
If you want to be near the beach and enjoy a more mellow, surfer atmosphere, Santa Monica is a great option. The beaches are gorgeous, you can spend time on the famous Santa Monica Pier and browse a variety of shops and restaurants.
Just south of Santa Monica, Venice Beach is well-known for its bohemian atmosphere, the Venice Beach Boardwalk, and Muscle Beach. It's a bustling and artistic neighbourhood where you can soak up the atmosphere and people-watch all day. If you’re lucky, you might spot Barbie and Ken rollerblading on the boardwalk.
Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, and nearby Paradise Island are really popular choices. If you're looking for a more secluded and serene experience, the Exuma Cays is where you should settle, famous for swimming with pigs at Big Major Cay. The Out Islands include Eleuthera, Abaco, and Andros, which also offer a more laid-back and less crowded experience. Both destinations are perfect for those who want to escape the crowds and enjoy the natural beauty and local culture. Known for its great fishing and water activities, Bimini is the closest Bahamian Island to the United States, making it a popular destination to combine with a trip to LA.
We can’t possibly choose just one. Disneyland Resort, which is located in nearby Anaheim, is a top attraction for families and fans of Disney. It consists of two theme parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park which host a plethora of rides, rollercoasters and characters poised to take selfies with.
Universal Studios Hollywood is also a must-visit. This world-famous film studio and theme park offers visitors a chance to experience the magic of movie-making and enjoy various rides and attractions. Ready, set, action!
The Bahamas plays host to many historical landmarks such as Fort Charlotte in Nassau and the Pompey Museum, which provide insight into the country's rich history and heritage. The islands are also home to diverse marine life and exotic bird species - so you can find Nemo and discover dolphins, sea turtles, and flamingos in their natural habitats.
Another exciting cultural offering is the Bahamian Junkanoo Festival. This colourful festival is a hallmark of Bahamian culture, featuring bright costumes, music, and dance, and is celebrated on Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Definitely one to see if your visit coincides with these dates.
