LAS VEGAS AND JAMAICA FAQS
LAS VEGAS AND JAMAICA FAQS
LAS VEGAS AND JAMAICA FAQS
It all depends on how you want to experience the city and whether you want to avoid summer’s scorching heat. Spring (February to March) and fall (September to November) are often considered the best times to visit if it’s milder and more pleasant weather you’re after (temperatures range from 18°C-30°C). This period also means you’ll miss the busy summer crowds.
Also remember to plan your trip according to any specific shows or seasonal events you want to catch, including things like the annual World Series of Poker or the Electric Daisy Carnival. You can check the local event schedules to find out what’s being hosted and when. Get exploring our Las Vegas multi-centres today.
Jamaica enjoys a consistently sunny climate all year round making it a popular holiday destination for any annual season. If it’s a greater likelihood of rain-free sunshine you’re after, we recommend opting for months outside of the hurricane-prone period which runs from May to September.
Jamaica’s high season is also its dry season (from December to April), so this is your best to avoid the UK’s winter months and enjoy Jamaica’s sunshine instead. Discover more about our exciting Jamaica multi-centres.
McCarran International Airport (LAS) is the main gateway to Las Vegas thanks to its quick and easy access to the city’s famous Las Vegas Strip. Then there are few major airports to pick from as you move onto Jamaica…If it’s the northern part of the island you’re visiting, your best entry point is Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay. Alternatively there’s Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) if you’re exploring Jamaica’s southern side.
What is the time difference between Las Vegas and Jamaica?
Las Vegas is on the Pacific Time Zone (PT) while Jamaica is on the Eastern Standard Time (EST), meaning Las Vegas is 3 hours behind Jamaica. Just beware current times can change throughout the year due to Daylight Saving Hours. The UK is 8 hours ahead of Las Vegas and 5 hours ahead of Jamaica.
It all depends on where you're going in Jamaica. If you're flying from Las Vegas to Kingston it's around 2,200 miles (about a 9-hour flight on average). If your destination is Montego Bay, the distance is a little shorter around 2,100 (just under an 8-hour flight).
Las Vegas and Jamaica twin-centre holidays come with plenty of relaxation thanks to Jamaica’s incredible selection of beaches. There’s Doctor's Cave Beach in Montego Bay which stands out for its crystal-clear waters and soft powdery sands. Or you can head to the famous Seven Mile Beach in Negril, a picture-perfect destination that’s simply sublime at sunrise or sunset. Or there’s Dunn's River Falls Beach near Ocho Rios which offers both breathtaking natural landscapes and exhilarating waterfall experiences if you’re up for some fun outdoorsy action — take a dip in the lagoon and climb the cascading waterfalls.
Jamaica is a top pick for foodies thanks to its wide variety of dining options and menu of local favourites you simply have you try, including the island's popular dishes like jerk chicken, curried goat, and fresh seafood by the beach. And of course you can wash it all down with a tropical rum cocktail (or two)!
Some great places to eat in Jamaica are the Rockhouse Restaurant in Negril known for its catch-of- the-day seafood, the Sugar Mill in Montego Bay which cooks up a daily BBQ, and Scotchies, a must- try local favourite thanks to its relaxed beachfront setting and tastiest jerk chicken on the whole island.
There are plenty of transport options for your multi-centre holidays to Las Vegas and Jamaica. In Jamaica, the best way to get around depends on your preferences and the locations you plan to visit. Renting a car provides flexibility, just be prepared to drive on the left side of the road! Or there are plenty of taxis to hop in which can be hired for both shorter and longer trips and public buses if you’re on a budget. You can even hire bicycles and scooters if you want to explore local areas on your own terms, just make sure you’re well-clued up on safe local driving practices.
Our Las Vegas and Jamaica multi-centre holidays can be super family-friendly if you fill your itinerary with the right things. Although it’s commonly known as the “City of Sin” thanks to its adult-orientated nightlife, Las Vegas has made a huge effort to become more family-friendly in recent years too.
Take a visit to the Adventuredome at Circus Circus, an indoor amusement park teeming with plenty of rides and attractions that the little ones will love. Or there’s Mandalay Bay's Shark Reef Aquarium where kids can marvel at sharks, turtles, and exotic fish. And don’t forget Fun Dungeon at Excalibur, an absolute must for kids who love to spend hours playing on arcade games — there are over 200 different games to choose from here! And remember, even just a day spent splashing around your resort pool is a great way to soak up Vegas’s lively atmosphere.
The list is practically endless! Take a walk down the iconic Las Vegas Strip, a visual spectacle lined with world-renowned hotels, lavish casinos, and dazzling neon signs. Then there’s The Bellagio Fountains, a stunning water and light show best seen at night when the city’s Downtown truly comes alive. Evening entertainment is in abundance here too, whether it’s a world-class show like Cirque Du Soleil or a headlining musician you’ve always wanted to see. Even nature lovers are catered for with the chance to explore Red Rock Canyon’s beautiful rock formations and take a hike a little out of the downtown area to soak up some Nevada sunshine.
We make sure your Las Vegas and Jamaica twin-centre holidays are convenient and trouble-free with easy transport options. Vegas is pretty easy to get around thanks to its pedestrian-friendly streets and quick public transport options like the Las Vegas Monorail and the Deuce bus system that both run up and down the main strip. Ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft are also readily available.
Certainly! You can easily take a day trip to nearby attractions like the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon if you fancy venturing outside of the city to explore some iconic landmarks and natural wonders.
The Hoover Dam is around 30 miles Southeast of Las Vegas, meaning it’s just a short drive away if you’re renting your own car (or there are plenty of guided tours and shuttle services available). Likewise the Grand Canyon is reachable for a day trip, although it’s slightly further out requiring a 4- and-a-half-hour drive. There are plenty of bus tours that head to the Grand Canyon from Vegas too — or you can even book a helicopter or aeroplane tour if you really want to treat yourself and experience something truly once-in-a-lifetime!
