Florida Highlights
Florida is famed for having a little of everything, from thrilling theme parks to breathtaking vistas and incredible wildlife. Visit coastal hotspots and vibrant cities or head down to the Florida Keys for some peace and tranquillity during your holiday. All while savouring delicious, fresh Florida cuisine, of course. Are you ready to discover Florida’s best side?
Theme Parks
Orlando’s known as the Theme Park Capital of the World and for good reason: with Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, LEGOLAND, and more all to discover, it’s the perfect destination for thrill-seekers. Ride roller coasters, make a splash at water parks, and meet Mickey, Minnie and co. during your adventure.
Beaches
From the golden sands of Florida’s Gulf Coast to the Atlantic east-coast beaches, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Experience the lively Daytona Beach, peaceful Naples, or head up to the Panhandle and discover Panama City Beach. Wherever you head, pack your sunscreen and swimming costumes and dive into either relaxation or adventure.
Year-Round Sun
It’s no coincidence that Florida is known as the ‘Sunshine State’, thanks to its subtropical climate and near year-round mild temperatures. It’s the main reason visitors flock to the state each year dreaming of long lazy beach days under the sun. It can experience daily rain though, especially during the hurricane season that runs from June to November - but it’s brief!
Family-Friendly
With incredible attractions and many beaches with calm waters, Florida is the ultimate family-friendly holiday destination. Of course, there’s Walt Disney World Resort, but beyond that there’s plenty to see and do, whether you’re travelling with tiny tots or older teens. Swim with dolphins, visit museums, or take a road trip to the Florida Keys on an epic road trip.
Memphis Highlights
Let Memphis cradle you into its world of incredible food, rich musical heritage, unforgettable historical and cultural sites, and a natural splendour that can only be found in the heart of America’s southern states. This colourful city makes for a worthy stop on any USA holiday, and you’ll leave wishing you could stay much longer.
Music Mecca
Memphis has a rich musical heritage and is the place that elevated the careers of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, B.B. King and Carl Perkins, to name a few. And whether or not you’re a fan of rock ‘n’ roll, soul, blues or jazz music, you’ll be blown away by the city’s many historic attractions and national landmarks.
Food for the Soul
Famed for its classic comforting southern ‘soul food’, including tangy, delicious hot wings, fried chicken and hearty breakfasts, Memphis has a vast and brilliant dining scene that’s sure to satiate your every whim. And if you appreciate a good barbecue, then you must try an unparalleled Memphis-style barbecue for a true taste of chargrilled heaven!
Explore Nature
In and around Memphis are plenty of wonderful green spaces to spend time outside enjoying the warm southern weather. See sculptures at the Botanic Garden, get up close to a world of animals at Memphis Zoo or simply wander the miles and miles of walking and cycling trails amid its scenic parks and recreation areas for a breather from city life.
History and Culture
Memphis was integral to the American Civil Rights Movement and holds a poignant place in the ongoing struggle for human rights in the United States. Visit the city’s excellent museums and notable sites for a deeper look into the role soul music played in voicing the stories of the African American community during this time.

Florida & Memphis Holidays FAQs
Florida & Memphis Holidays FAQs
Florida & Memphis Holidays FAQs
The best times of year for Florida and Memphis twin-centre holidays are spring and late autumn. Florida has year-round sunshine so there’s no bad time to visit, although summers are scorching hot and hurricane season (from June to November) can bring daily downpours. In April and May, Florida’s temperatures hover between 26°C and 28°C while in November, the average daily maximum is 27°C.
Memphis has a milder climate so springtime brings temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. If you time your visit in May, you might be able to catch the Memphis in May International Festival which is a popular celebration of local food, music and culture.
October and November are also ideal months to visit if you’re looking to escape the crowds and the heat of summer. Bear in mind that unlike Florida, Memphis, Tennessee experiences seasonal changes so it’s a good idea to pack accordingly.
Memphis is a city with a rich musical heritage that’s had a big influence on blues, soul and rock ‘n’ roll. Beale Street is the heart of Memphis’ music scene and you can hear beats and tunes spilling out from its bars and clubs. Notable mentions include Absynthe Room and B.B. King's Blues Club among others.
Over at Sun Studio, the “Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll," musical legends were discovered including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and B.B. King. Doing a guided tour here is a must for music lovers as you can see where music history was made.
Graceland, the former residence of Elvis Presley, is a 200,000 sq ft entertainment complex. It features a mansion, museums, restaurants, gift shops and more. It offers a fascinating insight into the lavish lifestyle of the King of Rock 'n' Roll himself.
For history lovers, the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel takes you on an educational journey of the American civil rights movement from the 17th century to the present day.
Families with young children can meet the residents of Memphis Zoo, which has over 3,500 animals from all over the world. And for something unusual, visit the Peabody Hotel and watch the famous Duck March which has been a tradition since the 1930s.
Florida and Memphis operate in different time zones. Florida is in the Eastern Time Zone (ET) while Memphis in Tennessee is in the Central Time Zone (CT). There is a 1 hour time difference between the destinations, with Florida being an hour ahead of Memphis.
Florida is typically 5 hours ahead of the UK while Memphis is 6. If your multi-centre holidays land in March or November, check when US time zones change to Daylight Saving Time as their clocks go forwards or backwards an hour at slightly different times to the UK.
For multi-centre holidays in Florida and Memphis, the best airport depends on where you want to go first in the Sunshine State. If you’re visiting Universal Studios and Walt Disney World Resort, you will need to fly into Orlando International Airport (MCO). There are direct flights from the UK and the airport is located approximately 10 miles southeast of Downtown Orlando.
Another popular alternative is Miami International Airport (MIA). It’s the largest airport hub in Florida and it also offers direct flights from the UK. For visiting the Gulf Coast, Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is a good option, although you would need to get a connecting flight if you’re travelling from the UK.
For Memphis, your best bet is Memphis International Airport (MEM) as it’s just 7 miles from Downtown and about 20 minutes away by car. You will most likely transfer through Orlando International Airport if you’re coming from the UK, so it makes sense to visit Florida first.
We are proud to offer guaranteed prices up to 36 months ahead of your twin-centre holiday. You can secure your perfect package with an initial low deposit today and pay the remainder of your holiday in monthly instalments. Have a look at our Florida multi-centre holidays and start planning your trip today.
The distance between Orlando and Miami in Florida is 235 miles. It takes about 3 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours of driving time, so it’s possible to do the journey as a mini road trip. The easiest route to follow is via the Florida Turnpike which connects both cities but it is a toll road so you will need to pay a fare.
If you would prefer a more scenic drive, another route from Orlando to Miami is the I95 to West Palm and then the A1 from Palm Beach - which is hailed as one of the prettiest roads in Florida. While this journey takes longer, you avoid most of the tolls.
It’s also possible to get from Orlando to Miami by public transport. Megabus, Greyhound and Red Coach all serve this route. For more legroom and a snack cart, you can get the Amtrak train service. It takes about 5 hours and 35 minutes in total.
Of course, it’s possible to fly between the cities. It’s the fastest way to get from Orlando to Miami but it’s also the most expensive.
Florida has a humid, subtropical climate in the north and central parts while South Florida has a tropical climate. Memphis experiences a humid subtropical climate with distinct seasons throughout the year.
We recommend packing lightweight, breathable clothing which you can layer up or down for Florida and Memphis multi-centre holidays. Light, loose-fitting clothes will help you stay comfortable in high humidity while a jacket or jumper will keep you warm in cooler weather.
Pack items like shorts, t-shirts, long-sleeved tops, light trousers, sundresses and swimwear. You’ll need plenty of sun protection as well as a good pair of walking shoes for theme parks and sightseeing, too.
Both destinations can experience occasional rain so a small umbrella or a waterproof jacket will come in handy. If you plan to indulge in some nightlife or dine at upscale restaurants, consider packing some smart-casual attire.
If you like rock ‘n’ roll, Elvis Presley, luxury cars and private jets, then yes, Graceland is absolutely worth a visit. Memphis multi-centre holidays aren’t complete without visiting the iconic home of Elvis Presley.
Visiting Graceland allows you to walk in the footsteps of this music legend and see how he once lived. Explore the Presley Motors Automobile Museum and uncover a retro collection of cars including the Pink Cadillac, Stutz Blackhawk, 1956 Cadillac Eldorado and the Mercedes Benz limousine.
You can also check out the “Graceland of the Skies,” a 1958 Convair 880 private jet with 24-karat gold-flecked sinks. Another place to visit at Graceland is the Elvis The Entertainer Career Museum where you can follow his career through records and memorabilia.
Of course, we can’t forget the Graceland Mansion where you can see mementos from his personal life and hear commentary by Elvis himself and his daughter, Lisa Marie.
One of the biggest and the best shopping centres in the United States, Sawgrass Mills & The Colonnade Outlets in Fort Lauderdale has over 350 stores. Find everything here from designer outlets to big-name brands and a large food court.
For a more upscale retail experience, Worth Avenue in Palm Beach is regarded as one of the most elegant shopping streets in the United States. Discover designer boutiques, art galleries and fine dining establishments. The waterfront shopping mall also has glamorous European architecture with picturesque courtyards for when you want to take a break.
Miami's Design District is a beacon for fashion lovers searching for art, clothing and luxury home goods. Nestled in the heart of Orlando, families will adore Disney Springs with its T-REX toy shop, World of Disney outlet, Cirque du Soleil store and more.
