Golfing and the Sunshine State are a match made in heaven, and with over 1,250 courses dotted around Florida—more than any other US state—this is the perfect place to find your swing. Not only are the golf courses here plentiful, but they are also pristine, varied, and enjoy near-perfect weather conditions for much of the year.

So if your next getaway needs a little tee time, here’s all the tea on where you can find award-winning courses from coast to coast on some of the finest greens the world over…

1. Seminole Golf Club, Juno Beach

Largely considered Florida’s best golf course (and certainly one of the highest-ranked in the US), the club at Seminole remains the country’s most exclusive. Its breezy position along the Atlantic Coast affords gorgeous sea views and its clever planning of sandy dunes and shallow fairways makes the 18-hole course a formidable challenge for even the most seasoned of golfers, with a new wind direction on every hole.

Avid golf watchers may have caught this rarely seen, Donald Ross-designed course on TV during the 2021 Walker Cup, which offered an exhilarating glimpse of its palm tree-lined bunkers and the crashing waves on Juno Beach beyond.

2. ChampionsGate Resort

Set within one of our most popular villa resorts, the Greg Norman-designed National and International golf courses at ChampionsGate Resort comprise 36 holes between them. The treasured National is a sweeping course that meanders through 200 acres of woodlands and wetlands, offering manicured greens, cheeky water hazards and carefully sculptured bunkers for a thought-provoking game.

ChampionsGate Resort also boasts a wide array of world-class amenities on-site including a huge water park, clubhouse, and plenty of sports and recreational facilities, perfect for keeping the rest of the family entertained while you tee off in peace!

3. Streamsong Resort: Red, Bowling Green

Streamsong Resort comprises a trifecta of world-class courses that are located about an hour’s drive southeast of Tampa in a place called Bowling Green. Co-starring Red, Blue, and Black, the courses have been individually created by three of the top golf course architectural firms in the US, offering different styles of play on each.

Erected and designed around an old phosphate strip mine amid glistening lakes and lofty sand spoils, Streamsong Red is known as a tight but fair course in comparison to its sisters, with simple but interesting holes and a peaceful, open setting.

4. TPC Sawgrass THE PLAYERS Stadium Course, Ponte Vedra Beach

Positioned on Florida’s north Atlantic coastline just 12 miles from Jacksonville and about 20 miles from the historic town of St. Augustine, this unmatched golf course was the first true stadium concept course that was created with spectators in mind. The course layout—designed by husband-and-wife architect duo Pete and Alice Dye—allows golfing fans up-close views during professional tournaments, where players are tested on both target and distance golf.

Its famed 17th target hole set on an island green has produced more than a hundred imitations over the last four decades, but none quite compare with the heart-pounding thrill at TPC Sawgrass.

5. Calusa Pines Golf Club, Naples

Resting on the highest land point in south Florida, this highly exclusive and high-end golf club in Naples is tricky to get into, but well worth the effort (and price) of becoming or befriending a member. Racking up an explosive building cost of $1 million for the dynamite alone, its designers had to literally blast through tons of rock to forge the course’s unusual elevation fluctuations and shimmering lakes.

Past players of the course have cited its beautiful surroundings and firm, fast Bermuda grass fairways as reasons for it being one of the state’s top courses. But for other family members not planning on teeing off here anytime soon, you can swap your golfing bags for shopping bags and hit up Naples for its upscale boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants instead!

6. McArthur Golf Club Front Yard

Famous dairy family, the McArthurs, have been farming in Florida for 100 years and in 2002 they constructed a private golf sanctuary in Hobe Sound, about 40 minutes north of West Palm Beach.

The family’s team collaborated with well-known architect Tom Fazio and PGA Tour icon Nick Price to create a course that has the real wow factor. Sweeping across nearly 1,000 acres of sugar sand property and through four types of Floridian ecosystem: prairie wetlands, dunes, scrubland, and hardwood hammock, Front Yard has been carefully designed with multiple tees for all levels and remains a top pick for any serious player to try out.

7. Jupiter Hills Club, Tequesta

In 1970, comedian Bob Hope, William Ford (of the renowned car manufacturers), and architect George Fazio fancied themselves a golf course in southeast Florida and crafted the private Jupiter Hills Golf Club, located between the 3,000-mile-long Intracoastal Waterway and Jonathan Dickenson State Park.

Just half an hour’s drive north of West Palm Beach, the award-winning 18-hole Hills course encompasses sublime elevation changes amid acres of pine, oak and palmetto trees, affording it its desirable reputation. Jupiter Hills’ brilliant design boasts rippling hills and a unique terrain—especially in this notoriously flat state—with gorgeous views to top it all off, making it a wonderful choice if you’re in the region.

8. Highlands Reserve

Another one of our most blissful villa resort communities with top-notch on-site amenities, Highlands Reserve boasts a gorgeous 18-hole PGA course that is suitable for a range of skill levels and offers a different experience for all types of players.

Better yet, it stands out as a wallet-friendly option that is well worth a holiday or three.

Set in the Davenport area just ten minutes’ drive from the excitement of Walt Disney World Resort, this unique and easily accessible course rests along the edge of a sand shelf with undulating greens, wide open fairways, and plenty of drivable holes for those who enjoy the long game. Book a beautiful villa holiday here and enjoy instant entry and non-restricted tee times at your leisure!

Beyond the theme parks there is a world of excitement to be had on a Florida villa holiday, and if you’re a regular golfer or keen to give it a try, we can help you find a course that’s right for you.
