As October is cruise month, we thought we’d look to the seas for the most epic ride onboard a cruise ship. What instantly stood out was Royal Caribbean’s FlowRider. I know, I know, this isn’t technically a ride, it’s a simulator. But, it’s incredibly awesome and an absolute must-do when on any Royal Caribbean cruise ship.
So, What is the FlowRider?
The FlowRide is a surf simulator on board many of the Royal Caribbean cruise ships. It sends water at a very high speed to imitate the feel of waves on the ocean. Whether you’re just a doggy-paddler or a natural born swimmer, the FlowRider allows you to ride the waves in complete style (and safety!). There are a couple of options riding, you can stand and surf or boogie board. The staff are great at coaching you and showing you how it’s done, plus the more times you try, the better you get.
Why is the FlowRider So Cool?
There isn’t a cruise ship simulator like the FlowRider, it’s completely unique to Royal Caribbean. Everyone in the cruise world has heard of it and most of them have tried it.
One of the great things about the FlowRider is that it doesn’t cost any extra to have a go. All you need to do is queue up and wait your turn. If you really want to master the skill of surfing, you can book onto one of the surfing lessons and learn the craft in small groups. You do, however, have to pay extra for this and it can be booked onboard.
