So you’ve taken the plunge… After being unsure on possible destinations, having standoffs with your partners, getting an earful from the kids about Mickey & Minnie… you’ve finally agreed that Florida is the next family holiday for you. Congratulations!
But where exactly? Theme parks or beach sides? Culture or cuisine? Everglades or Epcot? Granted, you could have all these things when you book a trip with Ocean Florida, but the point is that there are countless questions to answer when you’re choosing between regions and deciding what exactly you’re after. So this post is purely to give you the generic lowdown on the various hot-spots of the Sunshine State. Here’s what you’re in for…

Orlando

Orlando, the fairy tale kingdom where all the magic happens, is an excellent family destination in central Florida. Lifelong memories are waiting in abundance in this fantastic wonderland, thanks to the array of theme parks and attractions in the area. You’ve got Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld, I-Drive, Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures, and many more. Have roller coaster thrills, swim with nautical friends, and appreciate the nature if you feel like catching a breather from the excitement… You’re going to need it.

Gold Coast

“Ahh”…. That’s a sound you’ll make and hear a lot around here, as sighs of relief are common on the stunning white-sand beaches of the Gold Coast. Across the entire right-hand side of the state you’ve got towns like New Smyrna Beach which is great for surfing, the family-fun Daytona, also the home of NASCAR, and the glitz, glamour, culture and arts of Miami. Many of these destinations have their fair share of golf courses and sports facilities too, meaning you’ll never struggle to find a place to test your abilities. Essentially a melting pot of relaxed leisure activities and culture, the region works brilliantly with a multi-centre as you can calm down after the more exhilarating Florida destinations.

Gulf Coast

Similarly to the Gold Coast, the Gulf Coast is dedicated to your relaxation with a dash of cultural activities for good measure, and with a ton of beachside towns to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Head to St. Petersburg and visit gems like the Salvador Dalí Museum and Fort De Soto National Park. Or, maybe a go to a barrier island like Marco Island where you can kick back on the white-sand Tigertail Beach, or perhaps go to Fort Myers, the home of Edison & Ford’s Winter Estates? Arguably more for the culture vultures out there, this side of Florida has a lot to offer to those who want to top up their intellect as well as their tan.

The Panhandle

The Panhandle refers to the northwestern region of Florida, including towns like Pensacola, Panama City Beach, and the State Capital, Tallahassee. With plenty of destinations on the Panhandle’s Emerald Coast, a name coined thanks to the gorgeous emerald colour of the ocean there, there’s a variety of areas to pitch up in. This is definitely the region to head to if you’re looking for more of a city break, as here you’re met with two sprawling cities, Tallahassee and Jacksonville. Join the hustle and bustle of Floridian city life as you get involved in different activities to the typical Florida getaway. Why not see the Jacksonville Jaguars play an NFL match at EverBank Field? Or maybe see crazy hot-rods at the Tallahassee Automobile Museum? The city atmosphere of this area is brimming, and although different to what it’s typically known for, an amazing Florida getaway destination.

So that’s the lowdown on four of the most popular areas across Florida. To see what we’re really talking about, spare a few minutes to check out this video on the link below:
