When you’re at the peak of the tallest freestanding drop tower in North America, at 335 feet pivoted 90 degrees to face the ground, Busch Gardens Falcons Fury becomes the ride you wish you visited before lunch rather than after.
Busch Gardens is somewhat an underrated theme park, mainly due to its location outside of Orlando; however, some fantastic rides, shows and animal attractions can be found here. And with Falcon Fury, Busch Gardens now has another signature ride to pull in the crowds.
What to expect...
To put its adrenaline factor into context, imagine climbing all the way to the top of the Eiffel tower and jumping off, facing the ground the whole way down. With 68-ton counterweight, over 6000 bolts and parts from Spain, Slovakia, Switzerland and Germany, the construction of this ride is as impressive as its overall look and experience.
Thrill-seekers will be slowly elevated to the top of the ride where they will be turned to face the ground. It has been configured so that it has a variable hold time at the top, so you will never know when it is about to drop. When the time comes, you will be dropped for around 5 seconds plummeting 60mph to the ground below.
The variable hold time really makes this ride what it is. As the suspense and anxiety builds you will notice your grip tightening on your seat, your legs uncontrollably twitching, your heart beating from your chest. All that suspense and anxiety will just feed the adrenaline that will be pumping around your body as you plunge to the ground below.
Where is it located?
The ride is located in the park’s brand new ‘land’, Pantopia, which only increases its appeal. It was scheduled to open on May the 1
st but even though its taken an extra 4 months for it to open, were sure the wait has been worthwhile.
A ride you wont want to miss...
Falcons Fury may be only ‘just a drop tower’, but as it’s the tallest freestanding drop tower in North America, it’s one of the best in the world you’re likely to come across. So put on your brave pants, best not your white ones, and head to Busch Gardens on your next holiday to test one of Florida’s newest and most talked about rides. As the age-old saying goes - what goes up must come down!
