A lot more indeed, as tons of Star Wars attractions will be coming to Walt Disney World Resort very soon. To match the stampede of films, television and games that have arrived since Disney took the franchise over, the park is upping the ante with these new, super-immersive experiences arriving at the park.
A lot of specific information is unknown just yet, but Disney have dropped enough clues for anyone remotely interested in Disney or the franchise to piece together the basics. So Younglings, Padawans and knights rejoice, as here’s what to expect from your next Orlando holiday.
Galaxy’s Edge
Obviously, all of this Force-related goodness has to occur in an area solely dedicated to Star Wars, surely? Well you’ll be pleased to hear that this isn’t just a gimmick tucked behind Space Mountain. No, no. Galaxy’s Edge is an entire “land” that will span over 14-acres, and is scheduled to open in 2019. Set on Batuu, a planet brand new to the saga, visitors can explore an awesome new world novel to the story so far. Youll feel like you’ve walked into a movie upon entry, as this will be the most immersive Star Wars experience imaginable.
Star Wars Themed Hotel
To accompany this new land, there’s going to be a brand-new hotel resort which will seamlessly lead into Galaxy’s Edge. This place is unnamed as of yet, however the clues given are enough to get any fan frazzled with excitement. Fusing luxury with an authentic intergalactic experience, you’ll become a citizen of the galaxy upon entry, among a motley mix of aliens, droids, and space-traders. Even when you peak through a window, you’ll see iconic ships skirmish and dock.
Star Wars Themed Rides
Clues on the Galaxys Edge rides are sparse, though a notable landmark from the artist renders is confirmed to be a full-on ride. The Millennium Falcon isn’t just a cool Easter egg for fans. You can actually hop in the cockpit and pilot the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. Restaurants and Shops
Of course, a new land within Walt Disney World wouldn’t be complete without some restaurants and shopping outlets. Remember wanting to be in the cantina with Luke and Obi Wan in A New Hope? Well you can dine in the charming atmosphere of the franchises most iconic scenes at the cantina. Itll serve eclectic fare as well as the saga’s famous blue milk. Theres also the possibility of other similar restaurants set to hit the land, there’s little doubt that these places will sink you into Galaxy’s Edge.
