Star Wars and Disney are a match made in heaven, and the end result is every superfan’s dream come true.

Last year marked 10 years since Disney acquired Lucasfilm, and the Resort’s newest land – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – is everything you want it to be and more. Despite the extraordinary level of detail intended to please the most ardent fans, you don’t have to be a Star Wars aficionado to appreciate the incredible rides, superbly realistic dining options and customisable merchandise on offer. Walt Disney World holidays will never quite be the same again.

Better yet, you don’t need a separate ticket to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as long as you’ve already got your valid admission tickets for Disney’s Hollywood Studios (though some attractions within the land do require reservations). So sit back and buckle up as we give you a taster of this immersive experience and transport you to a whole new galaxy that’s right in the heart of Orlando, which with a little bit of planning, is not so far, far away after all...

Rides & Attractions

Launching straight in with one of the most fundamental ingredients of a Walt Disney World Resort park: rides. Galaxy’s Edge goes full-throttle with its two epic and unique thrill rides with equally epic names:

Millennium Falcon

Smuggler’s Run allows riders to fly its eponymous ship on an exhilarating interactive smuggling mission, soaring through hyperspace and zigging and zagging across dangerous terrains.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

This is unlike anything you’ll have ever experienced before. It’s an unforgettable and gripping journey beginning with your recruitment by the Resistance for a secret mission to fight against the First Order. Several ride systems are combined to create this colossal and truly one-of-a-kind attraction - get ready for the thrill of a lifetime!

Restaurants and Dining at Star Wars, Disney World

You’ve got a few dining options here including four quick-service eateries (some with mobile app ordering) and the exotic table service lounge: Oga’s Cantina.

Oga’s Cantina at the Walt Disney World Resort

Let’s begin with Oga’s and that you will need a confirmed reservation to enter, and of course a valid park pass for that same date. This lively, local hostelry whips some of the most colourful concoctions (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) nodding to the continuing Star Wars thematics, with brilliant names such as Fuzzy Tauntaun, T-16 Skyhopper and Jabba Juice. You can also get beer and wine on tap, as well as bar snacks to tide you over while you enjoy the spectacle of one of the galaxy’s best-known watering holes with its music and - let’s say – spirited patrons.

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

A busy joint located in a working hangar bay, this quick-service establishment has a wide range of lunch and dinner options that will tantalise your tastebuds with their unusual combinations. This is also a great spot that caters to those requiring nut-free, egg-free, plant-based, gluten-free etc meals.

Kat Saka’s Kettle

You’ll find this little outpost in the market; a counter-service takeaway offering sweet and savoury popcorn snacks as well as refreshments. A great little pick-me-up while you’re meandering the Black Spire Outpost; it’s run by local grain merchant Kat Saka.

Milk Stand

Many Star Wars fans young and old have been intrigued by the blue and green milk favoured by Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Now, they can wonder no more as this stall allows you to purchase an authentic taste of one of the most iconic frosted drinks in the whole galaxy.

Ronto Roasters

Our final quick-service dining spot is a wonderfully industrial-style meat market where pork spits are casually turned by a pitmaster droid and heated by a hanging podracer engine – no big deal, right? Enjoy the grilled sausage and pork wraps with an accompanying speciality drink while you continue roaming the market.

Shops & Custom Merchandise

It wouldn’t be right to visit Star Wars at Disney World without leaving with some awesome souvenirs and keepsakes, and they don’t get much more iconic than lightsabers.

Savi’s Workshop

Handbuilt Lightsabers you can build and purchase your very own piece of the Star Wars legacy with help from the Gatherers. Select from four hilt themes, choose your kyber crystal colour and assemble your masterpiece ready for action and adventure!

Be mindful that this is a reservation-only experience at a cost (advanced booking is highly recommended), so make sure you organise it via the My Disney Experience app or have a chat with your Ocean Florida travel expert prior to travel.

The Droid Depot

This is another customisable retail store where you can design, create and build your own trusty sidekick. Pick between the BB- or R-series droid and look out for the mechanical components on the shop’s conveyor belt, head to the build station to start assembling, and once complete, you’ll be given a remote control to activate your astromech droid unit and watch it come to life!

Black Spire Outpost

Located on the forgotten planet, Batuu, is the Black Spire Outpost shops, a small village settlement frequented by local degenerates wanting to remain under the radar and quietly go about their business. In this intriguing part of town are various shops – all fascinating and wonderfully authentic – including Toydarian Toymaker, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, Black Spire Outfitters, Creature Stall and First Order Cargo and Resistance Supply.

Closure of The Star Wars Hotel

Like a fabled Jedi Knight retiring their lightsaber, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is set to dim its lights for the final time on 30 September 2023. The good news is that you can still experience a two-night odyssey in the confines of this inter-stellar hotel until its closure.

Regaled for its unparalleled immersive encounters that transport you into the heart of a genuine starship in the vast cosmos, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser stood as a revolutionary concept in hospitality. A place where guests remained aboard for the duration of their stay, engaging in lightsaber training, interacting with iconic Star Wars characters, and exploring the boundless expanse of the replica starship. May the Force be with us all as we await news of what lies on the horizon.

Helpful Info

Adding to the authentic Star Wars feel, guests aged 13 and under are welcome to wear costumes and selected masks during their visit. It’s a little stricter for adults and over 14s, but they are free to adorn looks and styles inspired by their favourite characters, whether it’s smugglers, droids or members of the resistance. Otherwise, clothes with earthy, muted tones are encouraged so you can fit in with the locals.

Hopefully, we’ve given you plenty of information regarding what’s on offer for Disney World holidays at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Many visitors and superfans, in particular, would recommend two full days to really absorb the whole land and experience each element fully. Guests staying in the Disney Resort hotels will be pleased to know that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be included in the Extra Magic Hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, offering you more time to enjoy the park once it closes its doors (however, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction is not included during this time).
