Among other names like ‘The Sunshine State’ and ‘Orange County’, Florida may as well be called the Family Holiday Capital of the World.

This part of America beckons families from across the globe thanks to the incredible number of family-oriented attractions throughout the state, with great things to do that’ll tickle the interests of younger and older family members alike. Whether its plummeting drops on Orlando’s rollercoasters, teeing off on a Fort Lauderdale golf course, admiring art at the Salvador Dali Museum, or simply relaxing on the sandy shores of a barrier island, you’ll certainly find something to please all the family.

So, here is a list of five family holidays for families of all shapes and sizes.

Kissimmee Villas – Great for families with kids and tweens

If you’re coming to Florida, especially with young kids, a Kissimmee area villa is certainly a holiday option you should explore. Booking a villa allows you to live in absolute comfort and privacy, with extra perks like a pool, themed rooms, and fully equipped kitchen as well as cosy furnishings. But more importantly, the location is perfect for enjoying everything about Florida’s top destination, Orlando. By staying in a Kissimmee villa, and your family will have easy access to world-famous theme parks, including Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld, and more.

Universal’s Cabana Bay – Great for families with tweens and teens

The whole family are bound to love Universal’s Cabana Bay, a hotel oozing with retro American vibes at Universal Orlando Resort. Inspired by classic Florida Beach Resorts of the 1950’s and 1960’s, this place lets you enjoy excitement and fun as well as tranquillity and relaxation. The resort features a lavish pool area for the whole family to cannonball in, as well as a load of loungers to kick back on in the beautiful Floridian heat. Having great amenities in the rooms and around the resort makes it perfect for families with tweens and teens, not to mention the close distance to Universal Orlando Resort for some exciting theme park thrills.

Fort Lauderdale – Great for families with older members

If you’re coming to the Sunshine State with older family members, then an excellent destination to consider is the beautiful city of Fort Lauderdale. It’s bound to be a hit with the folks thanks to some lovely features that keep it distinctive to other Gold Coast towns. Take the waterways for instance; with over 300 miles of inland canal, you can explore the area by boat, dock on one of the many restaurants on the waterfronts and relax as you enjoy the beautiful sunshine. You’ve also got over 40 golf courses for would-be golfers to test their swing on, as well as only a 45-minute drive to the Everglades for exploring Florida’s gorgeous subtropical wetlands.

LEGOLAND – Great for families with younger kids

Every kid likes Lego! Get the kids excited with a holiday to LEGOLAND in Cyprus Gardens, where you can build lifelong memories brick-by-brick. Stay at the LEGOLAND Florida Hotel or the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat, where you can enjoy fantastic accommodations right next to this excellent theme park. Perfect for younger children, this place will have them grinning ear to ear throughout the entire holiday, as they play in the waterpark, enjoy LEGO experiences, and hop on a ton of brilliant rides. It’s also great to bring the younger kids as the rides here are certainly the most appropriate for them, compared to fellow parks like Universal Orlando Resort or Busch Gardens.

St. Petersburg – Great for families with older members and older children

If you’re heading to Florida with both your older family members and children, then you’d ought to consider somewhere like St. Petersburg. On the Gulf Coast, this destination is home to sun-soaked beaches and a fantastic array of quieter and relaxing activities, especially relating to nature. Why not head to the Salvador Dali Museum, the largest collection of Dali’s surrealist art outside of Spain? Or, admire the botanical Sunken Gardens, packed full of natural beauty. And anglers will love Florida’s longest pier, Skyway Fishing Pier State Park.

But it isn’t all about relaxation as for older children, Busch Gardens isn’t far at all, and they’ll have a ball aboard the Pirate Ship Royal Conquest which has on-board activities! And who doesn’t enjoy golf right? Kids are bound to enjoy Smuggler’s Cove Adventure Golf, and would-be Tigers can test their swing on the many 18-hole courses around the area. Something for everyone!
